A variety of recreation andentertainment programs and services are available at Forts Myer and McNair.

Newcomers enjoy exploring other leisure and recreation options available to them through Morale, Welfare and Recreation efforts in the Nation’s Capital Region.

Always check with the Activities Center for leisure activities and trips throughout the National Capital Region. Fort Myer Officers’ Club
The Fort Myer Officers’ Club enjoys the distinction of being the flagship of the Army club system. The club, which is also known as Patton Hall, named after Gen. George S. Patton Jr., has won the Army’s Carroll Award four times. The beautiful facility is considered to be the entertainment center of the Military District of Washington. The quality of food, entertainment and diverse dining has made this large club a very attractive place to socialize, have weddings or other types of functions andcelebrations.

Sunday’s champagne brunch has earned the reputation of being one of the best in the National Capital Region. Equally impressive is the daily lunch buffet as well as an elegant a la carte dinner menu in the evening. Private elegant rooms for catering functions from 25 to 300 are available for all occasions.

The Lamplighter and Old Guard lounges provide just the right atmosphere for relaxing, dancing and socializing. Members are eligible to join the club’s swimming pool or tennis club.

Spates Community Club
Spates Community Club is a contemporarycommunity club that provides a variety of services, activities, food and entertainment options. Brunch is served every Sunday. The Patriot Sports Zone offers entertainment Thursday and Friday evenings from 4:30 to 11 p.m. Special celebrations take place throughout the year. The club is at 214 McNair Road on Fort Myer. Fort McNair Officers’ Club
In the tradition of its counterpart at Fort Myer, the Fort McNair Officers’ Club received the honor of the Army’s Carroll Award in 1998, winning for its quality food, service and atmosphere. The club offers a lunchtime buffet in the dining room Tuesday through Friday. The club is on Fort McNair at 4th and P Street, S.W., in Washington, D.C. Call (202) 484-5800. The club is closed on Mondays.

Five-Star Catering
Five Star Catering is the catering service of the Fort Myer Military Community that incorporates the best features of each of our distinguished clubs. Whether you want to utilize the Fort McNair Officers’ Club, the Fort Myer Officers’ Club, or the all-ranks Spates Community Club, Five Star offers flexibility, value, and the highest quality for your special function. Each Club has a catering office to service you. The Fort Myer Officers’ Club office operates Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Call (703) 524-0200. The McNair Officers’ Club operates Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Call (202) 484-5800. Spates Community Club operates Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Call (703) 527-1300. Auto Craft Shop
FMMC’s Auto Craft Shop is equipped with service bays and a welding and machine shop. Repairs from minor tune-ups to engine and transmissionrebuilding can be performed on a do-it-yourself basis. In addition, the shop works on chassis andsuspension repairs, exhaust repairs, brakes, tire mounting, electrical service and repairs. The shop is in Building 227 at 134 Forrest Circle, Fort Myer.(703) 696-3387. The shop is open Wednesday to Friday from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

BOSS Program
Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is aprogram designed to improve the quality of life for single Soldiers through their participation in off-duty leisure pursuits and community service programs and activities. BOSS holds an open meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. At these open forums, ideas for classes, trips and otheractivities are discussed. Bowling
The Fort Myer Bowling Center offers tournament, adult and youth league play and affordable open bowling. Newly renvoated, with 20 lanes equipped with the state-of-the-art ‘‘vector plus” scoring system, ‘‘glow” bowling and the Strike Zone Snack Bar, the center is also available for bowling parties at attractive rates. Further, the center has amusement rooms, shoe and locker rentals and a pro shop. It is at 224 McNair Road on Fort Myer, (703) 528-4766.

Community Activities Center
The Fort Myer Community Activities Center, Bldg. 405, provides social, leisure and recreational opportunities. The center features a wide-screen television, billiards, foosball, table tennis and a variety of video amusement games, an activity room equipped with tables for chess, checkers, backgammon and other board games and an equipment check-out desk offering numerous games and other items for use within the center. The center boasts an Armed Forces BankATM (automatic teller machine) that’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s in between the building’s double door entry, so access is always available. The center also has a six-terminal Internet CafÈ. The main lounge accommodates activities such as job fairs, concerts and exhibits. A large outdoor patio with umbrella tables and chairs is perfect for cookouts. The center sponsors tae-kwon-do, game tournaments, an annual arts and crafts bazaar, dances, talent and fashion shows, sports demonstrations and more.

FitnessFacilities
The Fort Myer Fitness Center is open Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (703) 696-7867. This is afull-service fitness facility with state-of-the-art equipment, basketball and racquetball courts, and locker rooms, offering tournaments, weight training and special fitness programs.

The Fort McNair Fitness Center is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays. For more information, call (202) 685-3117.

Swimming Pools
Swimming classes, lap swimming and water-safety instruction are offered at the Fort Myer Military Community swimming pools. The pools are at Fort Myer. Call (703) 696-3226 for moreinformation. (Note: The Fort Myer Officers’ Club Swimming Pool requires membership. Call (703) 696-5147 for details.)

Team Sports
One of the most important functions of the FMMC Community Recreation Division is the organized sports athletic programs it administers in addition to the variety of other trips, classes and events it conducts.

The FMMC intramural leagues include company-level competition in flag football, basketball, volleyballand softball. Teams from other Armyagencies in the region, such as Army Testing and Evaluation Command, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Military Traffic Management and Control, and Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals, also participate.

Community-level team sports inbasketball, volleyball, outdoor soccer and softball are also available through the all-service Washington Area Military Athletic Conference. These teams, both men’s and women’s, travel for their play.
