Our Mission:

The Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) provides combatant commands, Joint Staff, and other customers with precise technical solutions in order to carry out the national security and military strategies of the United States. JWAC maintains and enhances its ability to conduct comprehensive technical analysis.

Our Vision:

Revolutionary technical solutions on time, every time, to support national security.

Overview:

JWAC was established in May 1994, and is a joint subordinate command under the Commander in Chief, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, VA.

JWAC is a premier science and engineering institution that contributes to our nation’s security by recommending strategic technical solutions. JWAC uses social and physical science techniques and engineering expertise to assist our nation’s warfighters. These recommendations are based on analytical techniques that were first conceived, developed, and operationally introduced by the personnel of a program office at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) that responded to the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s call for support during the Iranian hostage rescue efforts.

Over the subsequent quarter of a century, JWAC has evolved from a small program office into a joint command of more than 500 personnel. As it grew, it became part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1994 and then was spun off as an independent joint command subordinate to Joint Forces Command (formerly Atlantic Command) in 1998.

JWAC coordinates directly with the staffs of all Unified Commands, Department of Defense (DoD) elements, Combatant Commands, military services, and other government departments and agencies to respond to crises. JWAC has twice been awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, twice awarded the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office’s award for Outstanding Achievement in Modeling and Simulation Analysis, and most recently awarded the Navy’s prestigious Nathaniel Stinson Award for its equal employment opportunity program.

It is through our superior workforce that we achieve these initiatives. Our scientists, engineers, and support personnel build, advance and apply modeling and innovative methodologies to our holistic approach. JWAC’s tradition is that of accurate and effective technical solutions; our future will be characterized by even greater speed and fidelity.

Awards:

Through hard work, innovation and service to the warfighter, 2005 was another shining example of JWAC dedication as reflected in the following awards.

The Joint Warfare Analysis Center won the Navy’s prestigious Nathaniel Stinson Award for its equal employment opportunity program. The award was presented by the nation’s highest ranking naval officer, Admiral Michael G. Mullen, the Chief of Naval Operations, at a ceremony at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. on 16 November 2005. ‘‘I know JWAC, but not for this,” Mullen told the audience of officials and invited guests. ‘‘I know JWAC for other reasons and (receiving this award) is spectacular. JWAC’s done great work in another area for a long time.”

The Nathaniel Stinson Award is given each year to Navy commands and individuals that ‘‘have distinguished themselves and made notable contributions in... Equal Employment Opportunity, and Human Resources.” JWAC won the award for a midsize command, which is based on the number of employees.

‘‘This is a great award for the entire command,” JWAC’s Commander Captain Ott said. ‘‘The diversity of our workforce supports the diversity of our ideas, which drives innovation and that is key to the warfighter.”

JWAC was also recognized with the Partnership in Excellence Award by Human Resource Service Center, Northwest (HRSC, NW). The award was presented by Deputy Director, HRSC, NW, Ms. Victoria Zafft. This award recognized the highly productive working relationships that have developed between JWAC executives, managers, administrative staff members and HRSC, NW staff members.

A high degree of mutual respect, cooperation, productive communication, a constant exchange of information, knowledge, and experience, and the shared expectation of excellence characterize these relationships. These relationships have resulted in improved human resources-related products and services and greater customer satisfaction. Visit our website at www.jwac.mil
