Soldiers of the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps march in the Arlington Neighborhood Day Parade May 10.
Though cloudy skies threatened to deny the age-old request, rain didn’t fall on Arlington’s 12th annual Neighborhood Day Parade.
The parade, a celebration of the city, its residents and its history, ran along Wilson Boulevard Saturday, May 10, from the Arlington County Courthouse to Clarendon.
The event took place in the early afternoon; 68 groups representing organizations from local churches, law enforcement, schools as well as military units on Fort Myer marched in the two-hour parade.
Representing Ft. Myer in the parade were the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment Caisson Platoon, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the Fort Myer Fire Department. Soldiers from BOSS (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) took advantage of the event, selling snacks and drinks to raise money for future group events.
