Base school board elections
The Quantico School Board is conducting an election Wednesday to fill three vacancies on the Board. School Board members are actively involved military community members who demonstrate interest in one of the most vital aspects of our American way of life - the education of our young people.
School Board members are elected by parents of children attending school at Quantico and serve for a three-year term of office.
Get involved and support your community and schools. Participate in the election by voting for your school board members. You may vote at any of the four schools from 8 a.m. to 4p.m.

Safety Fair, Motorcycle Rally
Each year MCBQ Safety Division hosts various events to increase safety awareness, and mishap prevention. This year’s event, Safety Fair and Motorcycle Rally, is scheduled for Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barnett Field. The intent is to promote safety awareness; reinforcing the importance of establishing a safe and healthy workplace, and practicing safe work habits at all times by all employees.

Base McDonalds to close
The McDonalds here will be closing Sunday and will reopen in mid-September. The facility will be closed to build a new McDonalds at the same location.
Free vehicle inspections offered
Marine Corps Community Services is offering free Memorial Day vehicle inspections Wednedsay and May 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Auto Hobby Skills Center.
The inspections are offered to active duty service members and their family members only. Inspections are performed on a first-come, first-served basis and last 20 to 30 minutes depending on the made and model of the vehicle. Patrons must stay with vehicle. NNOA host scholarship banquet
The Quantico Chapter of the National Naval Officers Association scholarship awards banquet is scheduled for May 31 from 6 to 11 p.m. at The Clubs at Quantico.
This year the chapter will award $10,000 in scholarships to high school students who attend school in the Prince William, Stafford, and Spotsylvania counties. The guest speaker for the event will be Jamie Harrison, Director of Floor Operations and Council for Majority Whip, U.S. House of Representatives.
