American Red Cross offers classes

The Quantico American Red Cross office is offering several health and safety classes throughout May and June. Register online at www.pwarc.org or call (703) 368-4511 or (703) 784-3113. In addition to the classroom courses, the Red Cross now offers online health and safety classes, visit the Web to take the classes.

  • Adult CPR⁄AED: Cost is $55 for nonmilitary and $44 for military tonight from 6 to 10 at Little Hall.

  • Standard First Aid with CPR-Adult, Infant and Child: Cost is $65 for nonmilitary and $52 for military Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall.

  • Dog⁄Cat First Aid: Cost is $35 for nonmilitary and $28 for military Tuesday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Costello Park Recreation Center in Manassas Park. Class includes one book of chose. For an additional 10 dollars you may purchase the other book.

  • Infant and Child CPR: Cost is $55 for nonmilitary and $44 for military May 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Little Hall.

  • Babysitter’s Training: Cost is $50 for nonmilitary and $40 for military June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall.

  • CPR⁄AED for the Professional Rescuer: Cost is $65 for nonmilitary and $52 for military June 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall. Students must bring pocket mask or one may be purchased for an additional $13.25.

    Red Cross youth program to start

    The American Red Cross office here is preparing for the summer youth program. Youth between the ages of 13-18 interested in volunteering over the summer, contact Brian Shaw at (703) 784-3113 or brian.a.shaw@usmcmil for an application. The orientation session is will be on May 31 and registration is required.

    Nominations now being accepted

    Nominations for the 2008 NAACP Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award are now being accepted. Commanders and supervisors may nominate Marines or civilians for this award regardless of race or ethnicity. The award will be presented to one member from each of the military services during the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s convention July 12-17 in Cincinnati. Electronic package nominations must by received by Wednesday. Send electronic packages to Russell Whitney at russell.whitney@usmc.mil.     NCO Association holds convention
