Registration still open for Historic Half

A limited number of entries are still available for the Marine Corps Historic Half, to be held Sunday in Fredericksburg. The initial sell-out of the MCHH took just 13 days last November, but due to the high volume of runner requests, the MCHH has expanded the race field and reopened to 1,000 additional participants. Runners can log on to www.marinecorpshistorichalf.com to register.

Band call

Calling all bands! The MCM is looking for a local band to perform at RunStock, part of the MCM Event Series August 23. The evening features a 5K race aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, followed by a live concert in Butler Stadium. Bands are invited to submit a demo for consideration. For more information, contact MCM Community Relations Coordinator Tami Faram at tami.faram@usmc.mil or (703) 432-1840.

Run Amuck registration now open

Registration is now open on www.marinecorpshistorichalf.com for Run Amuck, the next race in the MCM Event Series. Runners will want to pack a towel and a change of clothes for Run Amuck June 21, beginning at 8 a.m. In the spirit of Camp Pendleton’s famous Mud Run, Run Amuck will feature a variety of obstacles, including plenty of opportunities for participants to get dirty along a 5K course.

Registration is also available online for the Kids Run Amuck, designed specifically for children ages 5-12, that offers an inflatable obstacle course, a tire dash, a faux ‘‘barb-wire” crawl and mud run along a 100 yard course.

Correction

In last week’s sports feature titled ‘‘A Marine’s quest to create an ice hockey team,” the main subject’s first name was incorrectly identified. His name is Ryan Parent. To get more information about the ice hockey team, or if you are interested in joining, e-mail Parent at ryan.parent@usmc.mil or call (703) 784-9971 or (678) 571-4464.
